Multiple “D’s” Team Up To Give Thanks

In harsh economic times, who would have thought that two “unlikely” organizations would team up to help feed the needy this Thanksgiving?

On Sunday, November 22nd, The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) and Detroit Public Schools (DPS) helped serve a wonderful Thanksgiving meal with special-care packages for guests at the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries’ (DRMM) Oasis shelter. Residents from Sinai-Grace Hospital and Adult Education Students put on their aprons, gloves, and hairnets and got down to cooking!

Executive Director, Amit Singh Represents Sikhcess at Mr. Hyphen Competition

This year’s Mr Hyphen competition hosted by Hyphen Magazine at the Oakland Asian Cultural Center featured a  group of six devoted Asian-American men representing various community service organizations and causes.

This Seva, or selfless-service, has the potential to motivate countless individuals and entire communities, rallying them into being part of something that is bigger than themselves … this Seva is where people are beginning to notice that there are other people in this world who look a little different … sound a little different … act a little different … but most of all are seeking to make this world a little different – a ‘better’ kind of different.  This Seva is wildly contagious and has the ability to make monumental change.
